Summer Art Adventure Itinerary
WEEK 1: Aboriginal Dreamtime Art Adventure:
Spend a week exploring Australia's fascinating indigenous
culture through art-making. Create a painting inspired by the X-Ray style and
tribal artifacts.
WEEK 2: Passage To India:
Learn about the Hindu pantheon of Gods and Goddesses as you create a statue
of a deity, an Indian miniature inspired painting and an altar piece.
WEEK
3: The Post Impressionists & Picasso:
Create a Fauvist landscape, a Gaugin inspired monoprint and a sculpture based
on a Picasso painting.
WEEK 4: Greek Odyssey:
Write and illustrate your own myth, create an Mycenaen mask and a Grecian vase
inspired mural.
WEEK 5: Born In The USA:
Create art inspired by American artists Jacob Lawrence, Alexander Calder and
Wayne Thiebaud.
WEEK 6: Journey To Olde England:
Spend a week reveling in the world of Castles, Knights, Damsels and Dragons. Afternoon
Workshops
Each camp week includes a different optional afternoon workshop from
2:30-4:30 PM, Monday through Thursday. Students can register for the
workshop only, or
as part of a full-day program. The fee for each weekly workshop is $140.
*June 30- July 2: Animal Extravaganza Draw and paint your favorite animals.
July
7-11: Printmaking
Explore printmaking techniques such as block
printing, transfer and monoprinting.
July
14-18: Adventures In
The Third Dimension
Sculpt in clay and create a found object assemblage.
July
28-August 1: Make Books!
Create an altered book using a variety of
techniques such as collage, printmaking
and pen and ink.
August
4-8: Puppet-making
Create a life sized paper mache puppet.
August
11-15: Asian Art
Learn the art of Sumi-e, a Japanese ink
painting technique and create a scroll painting.
*The fee for this week is $105, as it is a short week due to the July
4th
holiday. |
