One Week Fashion Design
Intensive: Ages 12-17, July 12-16
This
one week intensive focuses on fashion design and illustration.
Students will learn to sketch the elongated
fashion figure using
a live model and photographs. Then they will use that figure as
a template to express their designs. Next, they will create an ‘inspiration
board’, consisting of magazine clippings, fabric swatches
and objects of interest, which will become the basis for designing
a 5 piece clothing collection. materials

Young
Designers Fashion Camp: Ages 8-11, Two
Weeks, July 19-30
Fashion Camp is an exciting two week intensive program offering
students the opportunity to explore various arenas of the fashion
world. Students will be introduced to the elements needed to sketch,
design and sew their own clothing.
Students
will begin with learning to sketch the elongated fashion figure.
Then they will use that figure as a
template to express
their designs. Next, they will create an ‘inspiration board’,
consisting of magazine clippings, fabric swatches and objects of
interest, which will become the basis for designing a 5 piece clothing
collection.
Once
created, they will spend a day exploring the garment district
in New York City and shop for fabric. The rest of their time will
be spent learning machine and hand-sewing basics, designing a simple
garment, creating a pattern for it, cutting it and sewing it together!
The 2 week session will conclude with a fashion show and presentation
to industry professionals. Students must bring their own sewing

Sewing
Intensive: Ages 12-17 , Two
Weeks, August 2-13
In this 2 week intensive, students will learn all the skills
they need to create a two piece outfit. This intensive is appropriate
for all levels, from beginner to
advanced sewers. Beginner students will gain proficiency in machine,
hand sewing and pattern-making. Advanced students will expand their
repertoire creating more complex designs. All students will be
encouraged to work both two dimensionally with patterns as well
as have the opportunity to drape their creations on a dress form.
The class includes a field trip to the garment center and will
conclude with a fashion show and presentation to a panel of fashion
industry professionals.
