Ages 12-17

Building Blocks Of Drawing
Thursdays, 3:30-5:30 PM (Ages 13-17)
Learn to translate the world of 3D form onto the 2D picture plane. This skill-oriented class will provide the building blocks to enable you to draw what you see. You will learn shading techniques to enable you to create volume. You will use measurement skills to sharpen your awareness of proportion while studying composition. Work in a variety of media, such as pencil, charcoal and pen and ink. Draw from clothed live models as well as from photographs and still life. $395 ($25 Model fee) materials list

Painting & Drawing II
Tuesdays, 5:30-7:30 PM (Ages 14-17)
This class is for students who have taken several painting and drawing courses and wish to deepen their technique and bring more of their individual personality to their work. Students will partner with the instructor to come up with a curriculum designed to meet their individual needs and bring their work to the next level. Group critique, study and analysis of old and contemporary masters of painting will be an integral part of this course. Life Drawing
Thursdays, 7 PM - 9 PM (Teen and Adult)
In this class, you will sharpen your ability to see via the process of drawing the live model. You will increase your visual awareness of light, shadow, form and gesture while learning techniques for sighting and measuring. Study anatomy as well past and contemporary masters of drawing to enhance your understanding of what makes a great drawing. $395 ($40 Model fee)materials list

Manga!
Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30 PM (Ages 13-17)
In this class you will learn how to draw Manga characters with confidence. We will concentrate on drawing Manga influenced
features, proportion, anatomy, sketch and storyboard drawing techniques, perspective, gesture as well as story scripting and creating interesting and original characters. Both American/European and traditional Asian Manga art will be covered. $360

Fashion Design Basics
Saturdays, 10 AM -12 PM (Ages 11-17)
In this course, students will learn the basics of fashion illustration including proportion, movement, and rendering techniques from magazine images, live models and the study of sample garments. They will use these skills to develop an inspiration board, a color and fabric story and illustrate a fall/winter mini collection consisting of 5 outfits. Students will examine fashions trends and learn about the various ways fashion designers find inspiration for their collections. The class will conclude with a presentation to a panel of fashion industry experts. $395 materials list

Fashion Lab
Saturdays,12:30 PM - 2:30 PM (Ages 13-17)
In this innovative approach to fashion design, you will look to art, nature, culture and history for inspiration and create a journal of ideas. Your journal will include highly textural mixed media collages using magazine and digitally derived images as well as random materials, i.e., leaves, buttons, plastic, fabric, bottle caps, etc., and create designs for clothing collections based on your artistic explorations. Study of the work of fashion innovators of the past and present will further inform your creative process. You will render your collections using gauche, pen and ink and colored pencil. This course is for students who have taken a class in fashion design and illustration. $395 materials list

Fashion Sewing
Saturdays, 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM (Ages 10-14)
Learn to design and sew your own garments! This class teaches sewing machine and hand sewing basics. Students will be encouraged to work both two dimensionally with patterns as well as have the opportunity to drape their creations on dress forms. This class is perfect for the beginner and intermediate student. The class will conclude with a fashion show. $395 materials list

Children's Classes
Ages 4-13

Painting, Drawing & Mixed Media
Children will learn concepts such as line, value, proportion, rhythm, and color theory while their imaginations are actively engaged in projects that encourage self-expression. Small class size and step-by-step instruction helps to support the budding artist in every child. Critical thinking skills are developed as children learn to talk about art. Students will learn how to use a variety of media including paint, pen and ink, printmaking, collage and clay.

Painting, Drawing & Mixed Media For Whippersnappers
Fridays, 3:30-4:30 PM (Ages 4-5)
As children take their first steps on the path to visual expression, they will be delighted by playfully encountering painting, collage, sculpture and printmaking. Basic concepts such as line, value, proportion, texture, pattern and color theory will be gently introduced in a nurturing and supportive environment. $300

Adult Painting & Drawing
Mondays, 10 AM -12 PM
This class will focus on drawing, painting and composition based on direct observation. Art Classes will be held at 202 Park Street in the backyard studio.

Studio Policies:
• Registration fee of $15 will be charged for all new students.
• Students may join ongoing classes at any time during a semester. Fees will be pro-rated.
• Full tuition will be refunded if notice of withdrawal is provided at least 2 weeks (14 days) prior to first class. All notification of withdrawal made between two weeks and the first day of class will be subjected to a $25 administration fee. NO TUITION WILL BE REFUNDED for any reason after the first session of a class.
• Students who withdraw from a class after the first week of the semester, but before the third week of the semester, will be issued a letter of credit. This credit will be based on the number of classes remaining in the semester, minus a $25 administrative fee and will be valid for 1 year from date issued. After second week of classes, no letters of credit will be issued.
• Make-up classes are available for students who are unable to attend a class due to illness or emergency during the same semester only.
• Bass Arts Studio reserves the right to cancel a class if less than 4 students are enrolled.
• All artwork must be picked up at the end of the semester. Bass Arts Studio is not responsible for artwork left in the studio after the semester is over.
• Please wear clothing that can get dirty. Bass Arts Studio is not responsible for soiled clothing.
