"I am excited by gesture. My work is is a direct and visceral response to the energetic and percussive rhythms contained within the human figure. In this body of work, I have chosen to focus on the beauty contained within the female form.

I experience visual phenomena physically. It inspires me to paint and also to dance. I am acutely aware of the connection between physical and visual movement.

When working with the figure, I deeply connect with my subject, and experience the power of her gesture physically. It is an energetic exchange, a kind of a dance in which I embody the gesture and then translate it into visual terms. The process of art making engages all of my senses, it is a heightened and celebratory state of aliveness."
